As always, however, summer holidays never quite seem long enough but I did manage to capture some lovely images on our holiday adventures. The destinations visited this time around were the wonderful Big Drift at Wilsons Promontory and the wild volcanic sites of the North Island of New Zealand. Fantastic stuff!

My first exhibition in quite some time is currently showing at The Bank Restaurant, 13 Ballarat Street Yarraville. Many of the photographs feature textures or objects taken in a mix of urban and natural environments. There are a dozen photographs adorning the walls of this lavish late Victorian era bank building. The larger photographs make particularly strong statements under evening lighting and add an interesting dimension to the dining experience of those partaking in the lovely food and wine at The Bank. The show will continue through to March as part of The Bank’s summer food and art program. Hope to see you there!

In a move that marks my long awaited return to the exhibition arena, I’m very happy to confirm that my exhibition titled “Elements” will be be on show at The Bank Food and Wine Restaurant in Yarraville from mid October 2011. I’m currently busy organising printing and framing of roughly a dozen pieces of work depicting textural elements within natural and urban environments. Some prints are quite large and will definitely take on a dramatic appearance at The Bank. More details to follow soon.

Its annual report season here in wintry Melbourne and my cameras are busy clicking away photographing people, buildings, gardens and many other varied and interesting subjects. But perhaps its my passion for landscape photography and the Victorian alpine regions thats given me a thrill this week with publication of some of my images in the photo folio section of Wild magazine. You can buy it in newsagents. The Victorian Alps have been the focus of much of my photography over the last twenty years or so and I’m looking forward to the day that these precious mountain regions are given the just protection they deserve for generations to come.

I’m often called on to shoot a range of styles for a wide range of different clients. My working week can see me in wildly varying situations from covering prestigious dinner events to shooting funky portraits for an environmental organisation and then be in the wilds of a national park catching the last rays of warm sunlight on a river red gum…..all in a space of a week!!

I love my iphone and I love my apps. When I first installed Hipstamatic, I thought I was in photography heaven. Getting those amazing retro images at the blink of an eye seemed just so creatively simple and wonderful. Hipstamatic images now seem to be taking over the world and that cute retro style suddenly appears just a little too ubiquitous. Has the iphone killed creativity? Perhaps real creativity in photography lies somewhere else that’s way beyond mass produced technology. I do still love my iphone!
